ahhhhhhh candolim … how I know it well ….. how I have seen the changes …. ten years ago nakid sunbathing was permitted but not on the beds, it was enjoyed between candolim and calangute where the beach is the widest and vegetation grew in a hollow that disguised the view from the average beach walker or bedlayer …. but now the minimum dress accepted is a thong or g-string, which, in the view of many, is far more alluring anyway.

Bicycles sales are now declining fast and the scooter, the motorbike and the car are being chosen because loans are readily accessible and the goan people don’t care if they spoil and pollute their air.

Take a look at the skyline from any candolim beach shack ten minutes before sunset and see the haze, then watch the sun disappear over the horizon – if you can. I say if you can because you can’t. The smog hides it completely.

There are no more beautiful sunset photos to be taken there, and believe me when I say that I have taken the most glorious sunset photos from candolim beach in years gone by. Alas, today’s visitors will never catch them again.
