I accompanied Aloysius to the Tivim Rail Station, northeast of the city of Mapusa. While we waited for his Mumbai-bound train, he explained that these goods carriers (commerical trucks) roll onto trains beds to save money and reduce wear on their vehicles. The drivers eat and sleep in their truck and occasionally jump out at a station for a hot chai or cold drink.

A train stopped at a Goa, India train station with one truck on each flat rail car.
